Mr. Heeraman Jowaheer
Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands (19 March 2021) With more than 20 years of experience in financial regulation and multi-jurisdictional regulatory compliance, Mr. Heeraman Jowaheer joined the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (“CIMA” or “the Authority”) on 7 December 2020 as Head of the Securities Supervision Division.
Mr. Jowaheer brings a wealth of experience in alternative investment, private equity funds, licensing, policy development, offshore finance, regulatory compliance monitoring, corporate governance, supervision of non-bank financial institutions, as well as negotiation of double taxation, trade, and investment promotion and protection agreements.
Immediately prior to joining the Authority, Mr. Jowaheer was employed at a U.S. SEC-registered investment adviser company where he served as Director of Regulatory Affairs and Compliance. He also held other senior leadership roles at the Mauritius Financial Services Commission and the Mauritius Stock Exchange.
He holds a Master’s of Busines Administration degree and an Associate’ degree in Human Resources. He is also a graduate and Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute and a former long-serving member of its Professional Standards Committee.
