Fraudulent Phishing Email

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) has identified an ongoing phishing campaign involving fraudulent emails falsely claiming to originate from CIMA. This scam involves individuals impersonating legitimate CIMA employees and requesting personal information or payments. The fraudulent scheme extends to activities such as offering fund recovery, cryptocurrency conversion services, and distributing forged documentation to deceive recipients.

The fraudulent correspondence purportedly originates from Mr. Christopher Buock and appears to use the email address AMLSurveys@cima.ky. While AMLSurveys@cima.ky is a valid email address used by CIMA, it is not being used legitimately in this instance.

CIMA’s internal systems remain secure, and there is no evidence of unauthorised access or compromise of our network. The fraudulent activity originates externally, leveraging duplicated/fabricated domains and impersonation tactics.

Given the current climate, we strongly encourage individuals to remain vigilant, carefully verify the authenticity of any correspondence purporting to originate from CIMA, and promptly report any suspicious emails of this nature to CIMA at ContactPublicRelations@cima.ky.
