Director (Non-voting)

Dr. Dax Basdeo was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority as an Ex-Officio Member effective 30 March 2019.

Dr. Basdeo oversees the strategy, operations and administration of the Cayman Islands Ministry of Financial Services and Home Affairs.

Entities under his leadership include the Department of Financial Services Policy and Legislation; the Department of International Tax Cooperation; General Registry; Her Majesty’s Prison Service; Her Majesty’s Fire Service; the Department of Community Rehabilitation; the Department of Public Safety Communication (911); and Hazard Management Cayman Islands.

The Ministry of Financial Services and Home Affairs also has responsibility for the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority; the Auditors Oversight Authority; the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange; and the Maritime Authority of the Cayman Islands.

Dr. Basdeo’s background is in economics, finance, statistics and strategic management. He also holds degrees from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Manchester, and the University of Maryland.
