Reporting to the Head of Division, the Deputy Head primarily supports the management of the Division,
both on an on-site and off-site basis by providing guidance, assistance to and supervision of a team to
include Chief Analysts and Senior Analysts, and through these posts to achieve the legislative requirements
and the goals and objectives of the Division and CIMA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will:
• Plan, direct and delegate the off-site monitoring and on-site inspection processes and all divisional
projects and assignments;
• Respond to enquires from external constituents relating to problem registrants or licensees;
• Liaise with the Head of Division in developing standards, policies and practices for the inspection and
ongoing supervisory processes;
• Identify the need for developing new regulations or directives, and participate in the drafting of the
legislative changes;
• Establish contacts with foreign supervisors in order to contribute to the harmonization of internation
al standards and practices affecting the regulation of securities investment business entities;
• Respond to complex Divisional issues and conduct sound managerial analysis to determine the
appropriate recommendations to be employed;
• Efficiently deliver strategic objectives through effective management and coaching, ensuring the
continued development and implementation of a learning & development program; and
• Research, collect, manage, and deliver pertinent information to internal and external stakeholders to
bring about the successful execution and completion of specific project goals and objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in a Finance related field and at least nine years’
experience in the respective industry, with five years’ in a middle/senior management position;
• Experience within a regulatory environment or direct securities trading environment would be an
asset;
• A professional qualification/designation is required;
• Sound working knowledge of international standards and best practices in the securities investment
business industry;
• Expert knowledge of the Securities Investment Business Act, regulations, relevant rules, guidance,
policies and procedures relating to the supervision of Securities Investment Business companies
would be an asset;
• Sound knowledge of generally accepted auditing and accounting principles, as well as
comprehensive analytical skills to analyse the implications of financial statements as they relate to
Securities Investment Business companies; and
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
